Quick work by the police resulted in a 15-year-old boy being rescued from kidnappers by police on Christmas Eve
According to media reports Jovica George was walking along Chootoo Lane, El Socorro, with a relative near the Muslim cemetery when a group of men reportedly stopped and forced him into a Nissan Tiida hatchback around 2:30 pm, and drove off.
His family then received a phone call demanding $300,000 for his safe return.
A report was made to the Barataria Police Station and the anti-kidnapping squad and police responded by conducting a search, led by Senior Supt. Radcliffe Boxill.
Thankfully, the teen was found in an abandoned house on St John’s Lane, Laventille, around 7:30 pm.
He was medically examined and appeared to be physically unhurt.
No arrests have been made in the case and the investigations into the incident are continuing.
