16,000 persons in East Trinidad get ready for bi elections today Bi-elections in East Trinidad today

votersSome 16,000 resident in the East Trinidad districts of Malabar (south) and Auzonville-Tunapuna will be eligible to vote in tomorrow’s two Local Government by-elections to fill the seats on the Councils of two Regional Corporations formerly held by new PNM Cabinet Ministers.

Voting is to arrive at successors to current PNM Member of Parliament for Arima and Minister of Education Anthony Garcia and the PNM’s Member of Parliament for Tunapuna and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Esmond Forde.

Malabar South falls within the jurisdiction of the Arima Borough Council while Auzonville Tunapuna is under the purview of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation.

casting a ballotMalabar South will have six polling divisions across eight polling stations, with an electorate of 4,725 persons while Auzonville Tunapuna comprises 19 polling divisions, and an electorate of 11,293.
