Amid investigations into the accidental drowning of a 5 year old child, there is news that a 23 month old baby boy also lost his life, one day earlier after he wandered into a manmade pool in the family’s yard in Mayaro.
According to police reports Kriston Obadele Gonzales ran out of the house through an open door and made his way into the pond. The incident occurred around 1:45pm on Sunday and according to reports, no one had noticed that the child had wandered away.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s drowning incident at the YMCA pool at Wrightson Road in Port of Spain has left the child’s family calling for answers. According to police reports, Jemimah Agard a pupil of Sharon’s Nursery School in Woodbrook, was a part of a class that had gone to the YMCA for swimming lessons between 9 am and 10 am.
Police say following the class, the child reportedly asked to use the washroom and was allowed to do so, however after some time, teachers noticed the child missing and began searching for her.
She was later found at the bottom of the pool in the deep end and was fished out and given (CPR) before being rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she died.
Investigations into both incidents continue.
