The exercise was conducted on the instruction of Acting Police Commissioner, Stephen Williams, for more such co-ordinated operations in Divisions throughout Trinidad and Tobago, following Sunday’s high-powered meeting between National Security Minister Emmanuel George and heads of all law enforcement agencies.
Sunday’s emergency meeting was summoned by the Minister in the wake of a murderous weekend which accounted for at least nine homicides.
The 25 arrested persons in the Southern Division exercise were charged for various crimes including robberies, break-ins and narcotics possession and trafficking, as well as outstanding warrants.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt . Cecil Santana of the Southern Division and included Sgt. Vijay Ramdhanie of the Traffic Division, Asp Seepersad, and Yussf Gaffar together with the Division Task Force and uniformed officers and CID officers.
The exercise covered areas spanning Moruga, Princes Town, Ste Madeleine , Cocoyea , Marabella , Claxton Bay, Gasparillo, San Fernando and La Romaine.
