Government has declared the establishment of a $25million relief fund to assist in recovery efforts following Tropical Storm Bret.
The announcement was made at today’s post-Cabinet media conference hosted at the Diplomatic Center, St Anns.
The fund’s allocation is to be spread among three ministries—the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services, the Ministry of Works and Transport, and the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government.
Affected person have been asked to make applications to the Social Development Ministry for grants regarding damage to furniture, appliances, clothes and school material.
Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young, responding to a question posed by the media regarding the methods put in place for the dissemination of grants, indicated that Government will utilize measures already implemented in the various ministries to ensure transparency.
