The five accused in the armed robbery of a Chinese restaurant, at Arouca, on January 7th, this year will reappear before an Arima Magistrate on Wednesday 17th to answer to the nine charges arising from the incident.
30 year old Samuel Roberts ,25- year- old Jamal Roberts, 19 -year- old Dominic Alcantara, 29-year-old Romeo Jude Blackman, and 28-year- old Keon Patoe all of Beetham Gardens, first appeared before Magistrate Debby Ann-Bassaw, in the Arima 3rd Magistrates’ Court, on Friday 12th January, where bail was denied.
They face charges of robbery with violence, possession of firearm and ammunition, while Roberts was also charged with driving without a driver’s permit, driving without certificate of insurance and use of fraudulent identification plate.
Alcantara, Jamal Roberts, and Blackman, were additionally charged with possession of an offensive weapon, while Alcantara was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of apparatus.
Blackman faced an additional charge of assaulting a police officer, while Patoe, was charged with disorderly behavior.
According to police reports four men entered Yiahao Chinese restaurant, at Eastern Main Road, Arouca, around 10:25am, on Sunday 7th January, where they announced a robbery and proceeded to hit the owner of the establishment several times about the body, before exiting the restaurant with TT$2,200.
As the men entered a Hyundai Elantra motor vehicle, driven by a 5th suspect, officers of the NDTF, foiled their escape.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and one Jennings pistol, along with one round of .22mm ammunition, a knife and the stolen cash, were discovered.
