Officers attached to the Marabella Task Force said they believe they have made a breakthrough, in cracking a ring involved in Bank Cards Fraud.
The officer said in the last two months over Twenty Million in ATM Fraud, has been reported by Commercial Banks.
Reports state that police officers were on mobile patrol, at Tropical Plaza, Pointe A Pierre on Sunday afternoon when they observed 2 men coming out of an ATM with a bag each.
The men on seeing the police, started to run. One of them dropped his bag and ran in the direction of the sea.
The other held on to his bag and ran into the Guacuarra river.
One of the suspects emptied the bag of money which began floating in the water.
The 25 year old man was arrested in the river and a large amount of bank cards and cash was recovered.
Marabella officers retrieved over 400 credit cards, with four PIN numbers written on each card with a marker and $17,000.00 in cash.
Southern Division Task Force and San Fernando CID are investigating.
The search continues for the other man.
