STEPHEN WILLIAMS 3The appeal comes from Acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams.

He made the plea while addressing a symposium entitled ‘Stemming Gun Violence’, to address the social ill.

The event was held by the Port of Spain City Corporation together with the T&T Faith Leades United.


At the weekly police media briefing held at the Administrative Building in Port of Spain it was revealed that 209 murders of the over 260 murders committed so far this year involved the use of firearms.

    Does Stephen Williams think the religious leaders are in charge of importing weapons? Apart from Abu Bakr and a few pentacostal preachers there is no evidence that religious leaders are in charge of the weapon trade. It appears to be more likely that some policemen are involved in this business in order to get some pocket money.
