A former messenger and driver claims that he was appointed as a contractor with HCU


Claims by a former messenger and driver that he was appointed as a contractor with the Hindu Credit Union and that he was allowed to handle millions of dollars in contracts for the HCU.

This morning Gordon James testified before the commission of Enquiry into the collapse of Clico and the HCU Winsure Building , Richmond Street , Port of Spain.

James was a driver and messenger with the National Union of Government and Federated Workers but was hired by then HCU President, Harry Harnarine, in 2002 after meeting Mr. Harnarine through landscaping work.

He told attorney Deborah Peake that he handled millions in contracts and managed payments to several contractors within the Hindu Credit Union

The commission is now in the process of copying accounts recorded by Mr. James for the period 2002 to 2005.
