Activist accuses members of the security forces of taking advantage of women in the sex industry

sexworkersOne activist is today claiming that sex workers are being used by members of security forces.

Speaking with News Power Now, Public Relations Officer of the Network for the advancement of women NGO, Marcus Kissoon, says that women who engage in a lifestyle of being sex workers are at risk for a number of issues.

Kissoon said that these women are taken advantage of by members of the Military and the TTPS who demand their service and not pay for such.

Kissoon however said that though engaging in sex work is illegal, some women in society are pressured or compelled to live this type of lifestyle.

Kissoon said that society has the responsibility to help put an end to this type of work.

Meanwhile President of the TTPS Social and Welfare Association (TTPSSWA) Inspector Michael Seales has rubbished any comments that accuse members of the police service of taking advantage of sex workers.

Speaking to News Power Now this morning, Inspector Seales said that his Organization had no reports of any officers engaging in such activity.

However he revealed that if anyone had evidence to the contrary they were advised to take the information to the Police Complaints Authority.
