The government has revealed that on March 16th this year cabinet took a decision to allocate, whilst holding office, Victoria Keyes housing for both ministers Shamfa Cudjoe and Ayana Webster Roy who are from Tobago.
Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young told reporters that the housing allowance to which the ministers are entitled is foregone because of the arrangement.
Mr. Young explained that the two ministers as well as the Senate Vice President are not occupying and utilizing Rent to Own Apartments at Victoria Keyes. He added that at that time the cabinet also took a decision to provide two bedroom units to two advisers to the Prime Minister. They are Steve Gardiner who is the Project Management Adviser on Physical Infrastructure to the Prime Minister and Dr. John Alleyne who is a Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in Agriculture.
Minister Young noted that when this arose a decision was also taken to try and ascertain from Public Administration, Ministry of Housing and Housing Development Corporation records what took place during the period 2010 to 2015.
Speaking at the weekly post cabinet news briefing on Thursday, Minister Young said it appears as though records have been destroyed, computers have been wiped out of the Housing Ministry and the HDC with reference to what took place during that time period.
He however added that the government was able to ascertain from records and from persons who dealt with the Federation Villas, critical information.
