Agriculture Minister Denies Awarding State Lands To Inexperienced Company

Food Production Minister, Devant Maharaj, is dismissing allegations made by Opposition Senator, Fitzgerald Hinds, that the Ministry awarded one hundred acres of state lands to a company, which lacks the relevant agriculture expertise.

Speaking during Wednesday’s sitting of the Budget Debate in the Senate, Minister Maharaj responded to the claim made by Mr. Hinds, insisting the Food Production Ministry has not made such a move and the company did not benefit from the alleged action.

However, Minister Maharaj’s explanation was greeted with more questions on the matter from Senator Hinds.

At one point when the proceedings became heated, Senate President, Timothy Hamel Smith, moved to restore order.
