Economist says the country is drawing down heavily on savings to cover the country’s existing
expenditure.

Speaking on the cnc3 morning show, Economist, Indera Sagewan-Ali lamented that the People’s
National Movement’s 18 months in existence as Government with two budgets ruled out showed no improvement to the economy.

Sagewan-Alli said she is concerned as to how the Finance Minister will repay the country’s multi-
billion dollar debt in light of falling earnings of revenue and the debt to GDP which now stands at
62 per cent.

Sagewan-Alli said the country’s borrowing have been deemed “reckless”.

She added that the best way to stimulate money into the country would be to push start works of
construction.
