An advisory from the Ministry of National Security says that Cabinet approved the appointment of an Inspector of Prisons.
Attorney Cedric Neptune has been appointed to serve in the position for a period of two years.
The release says that provision for the appointment of an Inspector of Prisons was made in Section 19 (1) and (3) of the Prisons Act, Chapter 13:01.
Mr. Neptune was admitted to the legal profession in 2001 and has since practiced various aspect of law.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Neptune was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service over the period 1988-2007. He served as Legal Advisor to Homicide Bureau of Investigation South during the period 2003-2007.
