The process of deciding whether Opposition members and government officials, including the Prime Minister will receive a wage increase is underway.
A consultant attached to the Salaries Review Commission is said to have met with senior Government and Opposition MPs last week to initiate the process.
Speaking on the matter in an interview with news Power Now this morning, Movement for Social Justice Political Leader, David Abdullah said the SRC’s report must be awaited to see what is recommended before judgments are made.

The present monthly salary of the Prime Minister is $48,000 while the Opposition Leader earns $29,000 per month and a cabinet minister $41,000. A non cabinet minister takes home $33,000 per month. The Prime Minister also enjoys additional perks inclusive of a monthly travel allowance and duty allowance.
