Contractors need to be honest enough to admit that they are not operating up to an acceptable standard, this from President of the Trinidad and Tobago Contractors Association Mikey Joseph.
He made the statement in light of recent comments from Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley.
Dr. Rowley stated that Government is moving to award more construction contracts to locals.
He said that local professionals must be able to “rise to the occasion” and complete those projects within budget.
The Prime Minister was speaking yesterday at a seminar hosted by the Joint Consultative Council for the Construction Industry (JCC), at the Radisson Hotel in Port of Spain.
In a televised interview this morning Mr. Joseph acknowledged that there was need for craftsmen and technicians who could execute projects properly.
While he gave credit to the present administration for having the state boards in place, he articulated that enough time had passed for proper reports to be given to government.
