Six teams began the season with the goal of entering their names in the history books. However, on Thursday evening at the St. James Barracks, it was only Boom Champions Fuego that held the inaugural trophy aloft.
With Boom Champions Fuego needing at least a draw to be crowned champions, they got off to the perfect start against CNGC Rush.
Camila Demezio tucked in a shot at the near post in the first half that had the Fuego supporters tasting WPL victory.
Mollon and company had other ideas though.
In a fiery encounter, CNGC Rush stormed back with 2 goals in the second half to leave Fuego reeling.
In the dying moments, with her team in the midst of desperation, American Claudia Saucedo broke free and scored the equalizing goal that sent the crowd into raptures.
At the final whistle, the score was 2-2 and Boom Champions Fuego were in champagne central.
