Calypsonian Yafeu Osei (Rootsman) died on Friday

ROOTS AT FESTThe Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation is encouraging citizens to demonstrate love and respect for the nation’s stalwarts in various fields.
TUCO’S Public Relations Officer, Karega Mandela, made the point as he reflected on the life and accomplishments of veteran calypsonian Yafeu Osei better known in the calypso arena as Rootsman. 64 year old Rootsman died on Friday at his Almond Drive, Morvant, home.
Reports indicated that he was experiencing health challenges as a diabetic.
In a News Power interview this afternoon , Mandela said there is need for greater appreciation for our music veterans at all times and not just when they pass away.

    My profound condolence to the family of Yafeu Ose aka “Rootsman” We will keep his family in our prayers. His lively calypso compositions over the years truly synthesized a generation of calypso lovers and party goers as well….
