The Trinidad and Tobago Members Club Association says it has once again been ambushed and waylaid by the Minister of Finance Colm Imbert.
President of the Trinidad and Tobago Members Club Association, Sherry Persad via a media release said it is clear that on the October 23rd Legal notice approving the increased taxes for the gaming industry was being published for the consideration of the Parliament yet days afterwards, on October 26th, Minister Imbert was inviting all of the owners and/or shareholders and/or directors of private members’ clubs and other similar business establishments that engage in casino-type gambling, to hold discussions on said 100 % increase taxes on equipment.
Persad said the Minister of Finance continues to act with dishonour and without courtesy to the Gaming Industry and remains oblivious and ignorant of the facts of the industry.
The TTMCA says it has been forced to conduct its discussions with the Minister via press releases and media interviews as a result of the Minister’s failure to meet with the owners.
The TTMCA is challenging the Attorney General, and or the Minister of Finance to meet in a public venue to discuss the issues of the Gaming Industry before the implementation of the 100% taxation increase.
