The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago has announced the appointment for a five-year term of a new Deputy
Governor, Dr. Sandra Sookram. She began in the position on Monday, July 13.
Before joining the Central Bank, Sookram was a Fellow at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Jwala Rambarran is quoted as saying that “Dr. Sookram is an acclaimed
multi-disciplinary economist with innovative, thought-provoking perspectives on economic development issues”.
Rambarran added that with a career as economist, researcher and mentor, this makes her “particularly suited
to join the Bank as Deputy Governor and to lead its research, statistics and financial stability functions”.
