General Secretary of the Police Social and Welfare Association, Sergeant Micheal Seales, says police officers are being unfairly blamed for the blunders made during the State of Emergency.
Seales says officers, who were simply carrying out instructions during the SOE are now being framed into accepting the blame and this is causing a rift within the police service.
He made specific reference to a newspaper report during the SOE which raised suspicion that an officer in the Mounted and K-9 Branch of the Police Service had a role in the assassination plot of the Prime Minister.
He claims no attempt has been made to clear the air on this accusation, and without doubt, officers at the mounted and K-9 branch lack thrust in each other.
To prevent such occurrences in the future, Mr. Seals says the Association will be more energetic and outspoken for officers in 2012.
