Close to one billion dollars is the amount being given by Attorney General, Farris Al Rawi, that was spent by the coalition administration in legal fees during their tenure.
Speaking during the budget debate in the House of Representatives today, the Attorney General said over 440 million dollars was spent by the AG’s Office during the past five years of the last People’s Partnership regime.
During Mr Al Rawi’s contribution to the budget debate today, the House Speaker was forced to intervene to restore order in the parliament.
The Attorney General added that going forward it will no longer to business as usual relating to legal fees added that the country must get value for money and avoid abuse.
Mr Al Rawi also said there is need for the previous administration to explain why such a massive amount was spent in legal fees and how did the country benefit from it.
