Concern are being raised about resistance to the formation of Parent Teachers Association in some schools. The matter was indicated by the President of the National Parent Teachers Association, Zena Ramatali.

She was speaking during a sitting of the Joint Select Committee of Parliament this week, Mrs Ramatali complained that some are interested in the PTA for the main purpose of raising funds than for fostering parenting support in the education system.

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association, Devanand Sinanan, appealed to parents and guardians who have not been actively involved in the academic life of their loved ones to change this position.

Meanwhile, JSC Chairman, Independent Senator Dr Dhaneshwar Mahabir, supported a recommendation made earlier that serious consideration should be given for a complete review of the current education system and action taken to correct weaknesses identified.
