At Wednesday’s police media briefing reporters were told the speed guns have not yet been launched yet, despite the publication of the order in the Gazette on Monday.
This contrasted the announcement on Tuesday by the Minister of Works and Transport, Fitzgerald Hinds in the Senate.
On Tuesday drivers would have been cautious in using the nation’s roads as there was word that 6 speed guns were already in use.
Since the Gazette published the order on Monday law enforcement officers got the confirmation to make use of the guns.
However Public Information Officer Michael Pierre said that the guns were not ready.
He advised drivers that in the meantime they should be cautious on the nation’s roads.
He also said that although the speed guns were being tested it did not give drivers free reign on the nation’s roads.
