Contractors are still owed outstanding monies by this country’s Government for work completed. Confirmation of this came today from President of the Trinidad and Tobago Contractors Association, Mikey Joseph.
Upon the appointment of Rohan Sinanan as the new Works Minister, there has been much talk of the revitalization of the construction sector.
In a News Power Now interview this morning, Mr. Joseph said just about $2 million dollars has been paid out by government to contractors, who are owed money.
He advised contractors to treat with their outstanding balances within a four year period.
On the new appointment of Rohan Sinnanan, Mr. Joseph said he anticipates an aggressive and progressive approach by the new minister.
The Contractors Association meanwhile remains adamant that Procurement Legislation must be made priority by government, going forward.
