San Fernando resident Anselm Francis has been ordered to repay a supermarket $11.31 for cheese he stole.
The theft occurred on July 1st at around 5:00 p.m. on Coffee Street, San Fernando.
Francis, a woodworker, on the day in question did not realize that he was being observed by an Estate Constable.
Magistrate Margaret Alert told Francis that his action had been planned.
Francis however, stated that he had insufficient money to pay for all three items, and that he was not one to borrow money from others.
Apologizing to the court on Monday, he admitted paying only for the sugar and cigarettes he picked up in the supermarket, and not the cheese which he had placed in his back pocket.
Magistrate Alert ordered Francis to pay the money through the court in two days or spend 30 days in prison.
