The Community of Munroe Road, Cunupia has been plunged into mourning following the death of Ravindra Ramrattan, who was among several persons killed in Saturday’s terrorist attack and ongoing siege at a Kenyan shopping mall.
The 2002 President’s Gold medal winner had been living and working as a research economist in Nairobi, Kenya since September 2011.
Munroe Road resident and former Chaguanas Member of Parliament, Manohar Ramsaran, who is also related to the Ramrattan family, told News Power Now that the family is devastated at the loss. He said the entire community is saddened by the loss of one of its brightest sons.
Mr. Ramsaran said that the High Commissioner to Uganda, Mr Patrick Edwards, and acting Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal, are working arduously on bringing Ramrattan’s body back to Trinidad and Tobago.
Meantime, one of Ramrattan’s primary school teachers, Miss Rebecca Gokool, said the teaching staff at Warrenville Presbyterian School was in shock on learning of the loss of one of its shining former pupils.
