Daily paid workers of the San Fernando City Corporation engaged in protest action this morning because of issues they feel are not being addressed by the relevant authorities
The employees locked the gates for almost two hours.
The workers protested outside of their Headquarters on Carib Street in San Fernando this morning.
General secretary of the Contractors and General Workers Trade Union Ermine De Bique Meade revealed that there were a number of issues that had been ignored by the authorities.
In an interview this morning she disclosed that one of the main contentions of the workers was that the San Fernando City Corporation had failed to provide protective gears and uniform for workers.
She also divulged that to date the workers had not been given their TD 4 slips.
She went on to state that the workers operated under dangerous circumstances since their workplace was situated at the bottom of the San Fernando Hill.
She said that the San Fernando Hill continued to crumble covering vehicles and placing the workers under stress.

Meanwhile, there is word that workers held a Chief Engineer at the San Fernando City Corporation hostage this morning.
Reports indicate that David Heereman was held at Skinner Park for close to 15 minutes.
The police were called in and after lengthy talks with the employee he was allowed to be escorted out by police.
No one has been charged for the incident however City police are conducting investigations.
