DEBE PROTEST

Suchit Trace, Penal

Suchit Trace, Penal residents are upset and fed up of what they say is an apparent disregard for them by the government, OAS Construtora and the National Infrastructure Development Company.

The resident this morning staged a protest complaining about the state of their road. Tires and debris were burnt and traffic blocked during their action and spokesperson for the residents, Edward Moodie said residents are angered by the effects of the work being carried out over the past six months- work that has led to noise and dust pollution.

The residents claim that their children are affected by the situation, as they are unable to walk to school.

As a result of the protest action, Moodie said an OAS representative promised that the road would be paved within the next week. However, if that is not done, residents will continue with their protest action.
