Prisoners will be the first people in this country to have their DNA tested. National Security Minister, Edmund Dillon has given this assurance.
Cabinet recently gave its support to the DNA policy, which will be brought to the parliament soon.
It was also revealed that the state is in the process of inviting tenders for equipment to outfit the DNA lab.
The lab is expected to come on stream by the end of the year.
Minister Dillon gave the update while addressing the People’s National Movement’s Post Budget Forum in San Fernando recently.
