The Down Town Owners and Merchants Association is reporting that there have been major disruptions in the operations of the Port of Port- of -Spain and Port of Point Lisas.
DOMA attributes the situation to the inactivity of the Customs and Excise Division at both locations.
The Public Services Association earlier this week called on workers of the Customs and Excise Division and Board of Inland Revenue to rest on Thursday and Friday following concerns surrounding plans on this matter as indicated in the national budget.
The Finance Ministry revealed it has arranged to meet with the PSA President, Watson Duke, on Monday, November 13th to discuss the establishment of the proposed Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority.
President of DOMA , Gregory Aboud, in a News Power Now interview on Thursday said from feedback received, trade activity is taking place as usual at Queen’s Wharf.
Mr. Aboud said this latest development does nothing to boost trade especially in these challenging economic times.
