As opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Rowley prepares to stage a march from the Red House on Abercromby Street in Port-of-Spain to the President’s House from 1pm today, there is word that he feels the Prime Minister’s silence on the Section 34 controversy is intolerable.
To that end, Dr, Rowley says the people of this country must come out today and march to demand the Prime Minister’s disclosure on what exactly took place.
Dr. Rowley yesterday said Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar had not participated in the parliamentary debate as she should have, considering that the matter was one that she had responsibility for.
Dr. Rowley went on to question whether the Prime Minister felt she was too big to be spoken to or for the people for whom she works, he alleged.
He also said the Law Association’s statements further compound the call for Justice Minister Herbert Volney to be removed.
Rowley said the latest statement from the Law Association yesterday emphasises “how this matter was sneakily handled and should be made clear to all citizens.
Rowley reiterated that the Parliament was given assurances by the Government that the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act would not be proclaimed until legislative infrastructure and rules were in effect.
