Complaints are coming from the People’s National Movement concerning issues relating to the recount of Monday’s local government election ballots in the San Juan East electoral district.
Preliminary figures indicate the PNM’s candidate won the electoral district by nine votes.
In an interview with News Power Now, lawyer and former Chairman of the San Juan/ Laventille Regional Corporation, Nafessa Mohammed, claimed the PNM candidate and election agents were blocked for twenty minutes from entering the premises of the Elections and Boundaries Commission Sub Office while the recount was going on.
Ms. Mohammed said the conduct of one of the candidates from another political party was also unprofessional and unacceptable.
She said the party will notify the EBC of the situation.
