Early Morning Protest held by Debe residents over continued disrespect from OAS

NEWS GRAPHIC 15Residents in the Debe area held a massive protest early this morning to get the attention of authorities they say have been ignoring their pleas for help.

The villagers revealed that they were fed-up of the disrespect which they continued to receive from Organization of American States and National Infrastructure Development Company Ltd from the construction of the Point Fortin Highway.

President of the Debe to Pt Fortin Action Committee Edward Moody in an interview with News Power Now this morning revealed that the residents had been dealing with losses due to flooding caused by a trench dug by the OAS off the Oropuche River.

He said that during the activities this morning, protesters were victimized by the police authorities.

He had some harsh words for the Government and in particular Incumbent MP Stacy Roopnarine, for the inactivity in dealing with the residents’ plight.
