Emphasis is being placed by the Victim and Support Unit on exposing police officers to extensive training to better address incidents of domestic violence.
Police data indicate that since 1991 over 400 persons have been killed because of domestic violence.
Manager of the Unit, Margaret Sampson Brown, in an interview with News Power Now this week explained that more officers are being trained to tackle matters of sensitive domestic nature.
Mrs Sampson Brown said the Unit is also encouraging both victims and perpetrators to come forward and get help from the various organizations and support systems with expertise in this area.
