Acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams, will lead the rank and file of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, in bidding final farewell to Constable Richard Babwah, who was killed during an attempted robbery at a Chinese restaurant earlier this week.
There will also be representatives from other law enforcement agencies, at the Military Funeral Service for PC Babwah, which is scheduled to take place at 10:00am, on Friday at the Faith Assembly Church, Five Rivers Junction, Arouca.
40-year- old PC Babwah of Lopinot Road, Arouca, was killed when two men attempted to rob a Chinese restaurant, around 5:20pm, on Monday last.
In an attempt to defend himself and protect the lives of others, PC Babwah fired his service revolver, before being fatally shot; wounding one of the assailants who later sought medical attention at the Arima District Health Facility.
Three suspects remain in police custody in relation to the murder.
PC Babwah, will be honoured with a 21 gun salute, before being cremated at Belgroves Funeral Home and Crematorium in Tacarigua.
In 2016, Cabinet approved a grant of one million dollars for the beneficiaries of Regular and Special Reserve Police officers killed in the line of duty.
PC Babwah, a Special Reserve Police Officer, who had four years’ service, leaves to mourn, his mother, father and two daughters.
He was attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2, Arouca.
