A former Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago says the move by the former Prime Minister and the members of the People’s Partnership to challenge the election result is a Public Relations stunt.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1FM this morning, Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj said there is a rebellion by the rank and file of the membership as well as infighting within the United National Congress.

He went on to say that the former Prime Minister was accustomed to launching PR campaigns of this nature.

Meanwhile, Former Attorney General, Garvin Nicholas commenting on the move, said neither he nor the Deputy Returning Officer at the polling station where he voted on Monday, were officially informed of the change extended hour offered to voters.

Mr. Nicholas made the comment even as calls are being made for the former Prime Minister to resign from the post of United National Congress leader. He had been speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1FM.

Nicholas went on to say that under Section 71 of the Constitution he believes that the People’s Partnership’s objection to the extension of the voting time is a valid and well thought out one.
