Four Children Rescued By Police as Mother Is Detained

NEWS GRAPHIC 15Ste. Madeleine police have arrested a 30- year- old mother of four after it was found that she had left her children, who are all under the age of twelve, unattended at home, for several hours.

The children, ages 6, 8, 9 and 10 were rescued by police on Tuesday at around 11am after the officers received information that they were left unsupervised at their Cipero Railway Road, Victoria Village home.

Upon further investigation, the officers reportedly found the mother at a nearby bar where she had been drinking alcohol. Checks in the area revealed that the children were often left at home alone, as the woman frequents the bar. Searches conducted by officers for the fathers of the children, proved futile.

Ste. Madeleine police are continuing investigations.
