Former national security Minister laments public distrus of police service.

Gary GriffithThe world has been looking on as protest action in the United States heats up after two African American men were killed by US police.

Many have labelled the killings unfair and feel it occurred as a result of racial profiling.

Former National Security Minister Gary Griffith is thankful we don’t have that problem here in T&T.

However he lamented what he termed public mistrust in the police service.

The only racial profiling anybody can observe happens at the departure lounge of the airport in Tobago. Detectives of the T&T police are sitting among the departure passengers and picking out white men between the age of 18 to 55 in order to check them out for the possession of drugs.I observed several times they never check black or east indian men nor women. Mr. Griffith go to Tobago and check it out yourself.Just book a flight to Gatwick or Frankfurt and you can experience the great performance of the detectives at Tobago airport.
