The Opposition is asking the government to provide a detailed explanation behind the termination of the services of former Central Bank Governor, Jwala Rambaran.
In December last year cabinet took the decision to recommend to the President that the employment of Jwala Rambarran as Central Bank Governor be terminated.
At the time of the decision President Anthony Carmona was on vacation overseas and Senate President Christine Kangaloo was acting as President.
There was controversy after Mr. Rambarran disclosed the names of the country’s largest foreign exchange-users as well as the nation was in a recession.
However, speaking in the Senate yesterday afternoon Opposition Senator, Wade Mark claimed there is need for the government to provide clarification on the development.
Mr. Mark said the ruling administration should also be prepared to give answers to questions surrounding this matter when the issue is heard before the court.
