Government plans to bring to parliament legislation which will give citizens the right to recall a non-performing member of parliament.
Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, made the disclosure during a United National Congress public meeting at the Aranguez Community Centre on Monday night, in support of the party’s St Joseph bye-election candidate, Ian Alleyne.
At the event which was carried live on Power 102.1fm and Boom Champions 94.1fm, the Prime Minister insisted citizens must be allowed the opportunity through appropriate legislation to get rid of MP’s who fail to deliver quality representation.
Commenting on another matter, the Prime Minister made it clear she had no input in the colours, yellow and blue chosen to brand the recently launched Highway Patrol Unit of the Police Service.
