As citizens await details of the national budget on October 5th ,an economist is suggesting that serious considerations be given to settling liabilities in its path.
Dr. Ronald Ramkissoon says this approach is critical in order to avoid legal implications or tension in the industrial relations climate.
He explains that giving citizens an indication of the debt owed by the state can help members of the public understand the facts surrounding the finances available and how far the government can extend itself.
The economist said he is not sure how much of the promises made during the general election campaign by the new administration it will be able to deliver bearing in mind the many economic challenges it has to deal with.
