THE SUN.CO.UK– TAKING a quick screen shot can be a lifesaver when using tech – from saving important information like flight details into your photo album to grabbing a still of a funny video to send to your pals.

But the process on some devices can be more complicated than others — so here is a breakdown of how to do it on the most popular gadgets and operating systems.

How to take a screenshot on an iPhone

On an iPhone 8 or earlier, press and hold the Top or Side button. Immediately click the Home button, then release the Top or Side buttons.

In iOS 11, a thumbnail of your screenshot appears in the lower-left corner of your device.

Tap the thumbnail to add drawings and text with Markup, or press and hold the thumbnail to share the screenshot. Swipe left on the thumbnail to dismiss it.

To find the screenshot you just took, along with ones you’ve taken before, go to Photos > Albums and tap Screenshots.

On iPhone X, press and hold the Side button on the right side of your device. Immediately click the Volume up button on the left side, then release the buttons.

Navigate to what you want the screenshot to display.
Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.

You can also use the ‘palm swipe’ method.

Navigate to what you want the screenshot to display.

Extend your palm and swipe the whole screen with the side of your hand.
