Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh is today claiming that issues with the Chemistry Food and Drug Division are being addressed.
He says there have been operational issues at the Division for some time.
The Division ensures the safe quality of an equitable standard for use by consumers of food, drugs, cosmetics and medical services.
It also ensures the proper management and acceptable standards for pesticides and toxic chemicals, as well as provides technological and laboratory services in the areas of food, drug, cosmetics, medical devices, pesticides and toxic chemicals.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Morning Show on Power 102.1fm today Mr. Deyalsingh revealed that there are short, medium and long term plans to treat with the issues.
He disclosed that in the short term work was being conducted by other agencies, in the medium term Cabinet approved some $8 million for work to be carried out to ensure the Agency became Osh compliant by October and in the long term a brand new facility would be built.
He also said plans are already afoot for the new building.
