Police have charged a socially displaced man with manslaughter. 33 year old Richard King was expected to appear in court today, charged with killing 36 year old Ian Benedict Grant. Both men were residents of the Centre for the Socially Displaced which is located at #1 Town Council Street, Port of Spain.
According to a police statement, DPP Roger Gaspard advised that King be charged yesterday. The incident is said to have occurred on August 15th at the centre. The men were reportedly involved in a heated argument when things spiraled out of control, leading to King allegedly stabbing Grant in the abdomen. The victim had been rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he subsequently died.
