Former Chaguanas West Member of Parliament, Jack Warner, says now that the leadership of the United National Congress has spoken, announcing who will represent the party in the July 29th bye-election, he would not criticize anyone.
Speaking on Friday night, after UNC Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, announced Khadijah Ameen as the party’s candidate, Warner said he will not criticized members of the Screening Committee and/or even the leadership, because he did know what criteria was used to select the representative.
“Tonight it is the leadership that has spoken but it is the voice of the people that is the voice of God…….though that seems to have been completely forgotten” said Warner.
He said it may be that quality representation for constituents was not considered, nor the wishes of the 31 out of 31 Party groups of Chaguanas West but, after all is said and done, at the end of the day it is the people who will decide.
Warner said, the people of Chaguanas West trusted him always to be there for them, and he trusted them always to support him.
“Our relationship is based on trust and loyalty built through proper representation in good times and in bad times. It is a bond which cannot be easily broken” said Warner.
He stated that he had nothing to fear, and on July 29, 2013, the people will speak and that is what is of importance, not the 200 persons who were bused in for Friday’s meeting.
Warner said it was not whom the party selected but whom the people elected.
He said he will say more on this at a scheduled public meeting at Pierre Road Recreation ground in Felicity on Friday, July 5th, beginning 7:00pm.
Until then he will continue walkabouts; one on Saturday July 29th from his office, from 4:00AM, followed by another one on Sunday, June 30th, from Warren Road, Recreation ground.
