Workers are already bearing the burden based on the Mid-Year Budget Review.
This is according to Secretary of the Joint Trade Union Movement Ozzy warwick.
He stated that a conference of shop stewart and branch officers was held on the state of the economy after the Review.
In an interview this morning, he revealed that it was decided that in order to make it through the present harsh economic climate all of the stakeholders needed to get together to decide how to collectively share the burden of adjustment.
He also disclosed the Union took issue with what it termed concessions for the business community.
He also said that it could not be that a small elite would maximize profit on the backs of the poor.
He said that the Tripartite Advisory Council that was announced by the Prime Minister on March 15 this year, met only three days before the Mid-Year Budget Review.
This he said was unacceptable.
