This country now has a new Public Utilities Minister and believe it or not, he’s been sworn in for a second time. Robert Le Hunte’s Ghanaian citizenship has been sorted out and he will now steer the ministry. The matter of his appoinment is however being scrutinized at this time, since it is recalled that Dr. Keith Rowley had, in 2004 said Le Hunte posed a conflict of interest in the award of contracts for the customs and excise building on the Government Campus Plaza.
Dr. Rowley had taken on the stewardship of the ministry since Former Public Utilities Fitzgerald Hinds had been moved to the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
Meanwhile, UNC member, Devant Maharaj is today questioning the swift action of the Ghanaian authorities in relieving Mr. Le Hunte of his citizenship.
