President Anthony Carmona has deferred appointments to the Integrity Commission in light of a letter sent to him by Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley.
Recently Dr. Shelly Lalchan resigned from the Integrity Commission citing personal reasons.
Former Deputy Chairman of the Commission Justice Sebastien Ventour also resigned.
He cited his disagreement with the decision of the Commission to end its probe into the controversial Email gate.
In his address to the media at the Office of the President today, President Carmona said, given Dr. Rowley’s personal need to do “discreet inquiries”, he is giving him additional time.
His Excellency said after careful consideration of Dr. Rowley’s letter, he has decided to defer appointments to allow the Opposition Leader and also the Prime Minister time to consider.
President Carmona said he expects Dr. Rowley to respond by Monday, June 22.

Speaking at a news briefing held by the Round Table in Port -of -Spain on Thursday , Dr. Rowley expressed concern with the process used to obtain his consultation in the appointment of two new members to the Integrity Commission .
