The Trinidad and Tobago Members Clubs Association tells News Power Now it has received feedback that more workers in the gaming industry are losing their jobs.
Association President, Sherry Persad, says the situation has been triggered due to the increased taxes which were revealed in this year’s budget by the Finance Minister.
However, there has been some resistance on the way this is being done by the state with calls being made for more consultation between both sides.
Government is taking measures to regularise the sector and increased taxes for this industry are to take effect this month.
Ms. Persad painted the bleak picture of the state of the industry at this time.
She said there is need for more deliberations with the government on matters facing the sector.
